By PEMEX via LatinPetroleum.com         September 10, 2007    09:09:00 AM
Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) notifies that at 2:00 am on September 10, 2007 that the SCADA system detected an unusual pressure decrease in 6 points at different pipelines located in the state of Veracruz, caused by deliberated acts; natural gas supply was immediately suspended.

The pressure drop was caused by explosions in the following points:

1. 48” Isolating valve from the Cactus-San Fernando natural gas pipeline, close to the La Antigua Municipality, there was no fire. However, due to the leak, State Civil Protection is evacuating nearby inhabitants.

2. 48” Isolating valve in the same gas pipeline, close to Rio Actopan. A fire resulted from the explosion.

3. Pig reception chamber, 48” gas pipe line, Zempoala-Santa Ana, close to Delicias, no fire was reported.

4. Isolating valve in the 30” gas pipeline, Minatitlan, Mexico and in the 24” LPG pipeline, Cactus-Guadalajara, fire resulted from the explosion.

5. Isolating valve in the same 30” gas pipe line, 24” LPG pipe line and 12” pipe line in the La Balaestrera Municipality, a fire was reported.

6. Algodonera aerial crossing section in the 30” gas pipe line, Minatitlan-Mexico, 24” LPG pipe line and 30” oil pipe line, a fire was reported.

The four fires resulting from the explosions were brought under control by PEMEX and the State and Municipality Protection Agency.

No injured people, nor damages outside the PEMEX facilities have been reported. Petroleos Mexicanos keeps working to restart hydrocarbon supply.

PEMEX immediately notified the Office of the Federal Attorney General (PGR) of the stated events.

PEMEX regrets the inconveniences caused to the nearby community inhabitants, as well as to customers. PEMEX will continue to inform about the most recent events.
