Alange has confirmed a discovery in the Pajarito-1X well that was drilled to a total depth of 2,002 feet to explore the oil prospectivity of the Catatumbo, Barco and Mito Juan formations in the Carbonera Block.

Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras said its net profits came in at 16.02 billion reais (some $9.05 billion) for the first six months of the year, up 11 percent compared to the same period of 2009.
